CAMARILLO TOWER LETTER TO AIRMEN NO. (08-1)
SUBJECT: Reduced Runway Separation
CANCELLATION: August 18, 2008
CMA Letter to Airmen
During the weekend of August 15-17, 2008, Camarillo Airport Traffic Control Tower (CMA ATCT) will be operating with a waiver authorizing reduced runway separation standards. This waiver authorizes CMA ATCT to conduct operations using reduced same runway separation between departing and arriving Categories I and II aircraft in support of the activities associated with the annual Experimental Aircraft Association Fly-In and Airshow at the Camarillo Airport.
Reduced Runway Separation will be used during daylight hours only
1 Waiver Separation Criteria:
A. Departures:
(1). Separation may be reduced to 1,500 feet when only Category I aircraft are involved.
(2). Separation may be reduced to 1,500 feet when a Category I aircraft is preceded by a Category II aircraft.
(3). Separation may be reduced to 3,000 feet when either the succeeding or both are Category II aircraft.
B. Arrivals:
(1). Separation may be reduced to 1,500 feet when a Category I aircraft is landing behind a Category I or II aircraft.
(2). Separation may be reduced to 3,000 feet when a Category II aircraft is landing behind a Category I or II aircraft.
2 Orange cones will be placed on the south side of RY26 to indicate 1500 feet and 3000 feet.
After exiting the active runway, continue forward far enough to allow other aircraft to exit the runway behind you, however, do not proceed onto the parallel Taxiway Foxtrot. On initial call to ground control (121.8) state whether you are a display aircraft or for transient parking. Special areas are set up for each category. Transient aircraft turn on landing light during taxi so the parking marshals know you are for transient parking
Transient parking will be located at the east end of the airport.
Unless otherwise instructed by ground control, contact "show ground" on 123.75 abeam taxiway alpha. "Show Ground" is a non-FAA service..
Taxiway Golf and Foxtrot east of taxiway Alpha will be non-movement area from 0700L 8/16/2008 till 1700L 8/17/2008.
Taxi Into Position and Hold is NOT authorized
Friday Only
Normal Camarillo ground control procedures on 121.8.
Saturday and Sunday
Taxiway Golf and Taxiway Foxtrot east of Taxiway Alpha will be non-movement areas. Aircraft parked east of Taxiway Alpha, contact "show ground" on 123.75 for taxi. Please state your callsign and type aircraft. All departures located east of taxiway alpha will taxi via Taxiway Golf One, Golf to Runway 26 run-up area. When run-up is complete, hold short of Taxiway Alpha and contact Camarillo ground control (121.8) with callsign, type aircraft, current ATIS and direction of flight. Ensure you monitor the ground control frequency prior to transmitting.
If located west of Taxiway Alpha, contact Camarillo ground control (121.8) with current ATIS and direction of flight for taxi instructions.
Once established on Taxiway Alpha, monitor only the tower frequency (128.2.) The tower controller will call you when you are NUMBER ONE for departure and will issue appropriate departure instructions.
The first half hour after the completion of the show, departures will be restricted to VFR departures only. No IFR.
Be aware that at times during the weekend the pattern will be especially busy with arriving and departing aircraft. When planning local area rides, etc., please wait until traffic has subsided.
Camarillo is a noise sensitive community. Please avoid over flights of developed areas of the city. If assigned right traffic, enter downwind just on the east side of Central Avenue, keep downwind over the freeway, turn base as soon as practical or when advised by the tower.
METERING PLAN: Aircraft east of Camarillo will hold over Conejo Grade (located 7 east). Aircraft west of Camarillo will hold over Saticoy Bridge (located 5 northwest).
THE AIRPORT WILL BE CLOSED TO ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE TRAFFIC BETWEEN 1 PM AND 4 PM ON BOTH SATURDAY AND SUNDAY.
These arrangements are subject to change, watch for and read the NOTAMs. Safety remains the primary consideration when applying any separation and the provisions of these special procedures will be used only when an equivalent level of safety can be maintained.
Contact the Camarillo Tower at (805) 388-9730 for further information.
